If only in my dreams

"How is our Christmas different from Christmas at your home?" Didi's daughter had come from her in-law's house to visit her mother.
"Our Christmas is like yours. All the children come home from around the country to their parents home. Then we eat so much food- Chirstmas cookies, like your pitta, and special dishes, like your pork curry with sticky rice. But here everyone goes out to visit and eat at everyone elses house on Christmas day. At on our Chirstmas day aster church we all take our cooking to one relatives house and have Christmas together."


(After church we went to 10 different people's houses in the village and inhaled their pitta, paez, pork curry and other assorted dishes. Didi did not come, but quizzed me when I got back about what I ate at who's house.")
